!PSYCHOBABBLE!
(601)-332-WILD [9453]
Adding music to your Door Menu screen is really a very easy process.
Included in this package are seven batch files, one for each day of the
week, which--if run as EVENTS--will add a different tune to your
screen every day. Of course, if you want to obtain or write more ANSI
music lines to develop other screen, have at it. These are the ones
currently running on my board.
Now, remember...not all communication packages allow you to hear music
over the line. QModem and Telemate are 2 of the most popular which do
allow for this fun option. I suspect there are others.
Anyhow...here's what you do:
1) Make a copy of your DOORS.SCR sceen and call it DOORS.SCC. Remember,
this is "ANSI" music, so I have written it for the .SCR extention and not
.BBS. If you do not have a DOORS.SCR file, I suggest you make one as a copy
of DOORS.BBS. Then, as I've indicated, make another copy and call it
DOORS.SCC.
2) Put the 7 batch files (i.e. tune1.bat....tune7.bat) into your
your C:\WC30\EVENTS directory (or make one). [NOTE: Substitute "C:" with
whatever drive you run from]
3) Put the music collection (the 7 files with a .MUS extension) in your
C:\WC30\DISP directory, which is also where your DOORS.SCR and DOORS.SCC
should be.
By the way, you can listen to the MUS files at the DOS prompt by using the
MUSIC.EXE file included in this package. Command syntax is MUSIC <music file>.
Most of the 7 .MUS files have self-explanatory titles (e.g. CABARET.MUS is
the theme from the show Cabaret. But, several of them may not be accurate
that way. It won't really matter in the long run. Any music makes your board
more enjoyable, regardless of the exact tunes.
4) At some given time during each day, schedule an event that runs one
of the TUNE batch files. I run TUNE1.BAT on Mondays, TUNE2.BAT on Tuesdays,
etc. These batch files are the ones that copy the music into the DOORS.SCR
file.
Disclaimer: I run these music and batch files on my board without any
problems. However, I DO NOT GUARANTY them for anyone elses board. You use
these AT YOUR OWN risk. BE SURE YOU look at the TUNE.BAT files to see what
they DO!! If you need to change them to suit your board, certainly feel free!
If they work out for you, please let me
know by calling my board:
